Continuous casting method

- In this process castings are produced by pouring the molten metal continuously in to the vertical mould.
- The mould is made up of brass or graphite.
- This method is suitable for casting of brass, copper, aluminum.
- The metal is melted in a furnace.
- The molten metal poured continuously.
- Water cooling is provided.
- The rollers are provided to pull the casting.
Advantages
- Good surface finish
- Production rate is high
- Cost of labor is low
Disadvantages
- Equipment cost is high
- Operation and Maintenance cost is high
Applications
Large bars, round square rods are produced in the continuous casting
