  Continuous casting method





  • In this process castings are produced by pouring the molten metal continuously in to the vertical mould.
  • The mould is made up of brass or graphite.
  • This method is suitable for casting of brass, copper, aluminum.
  • The metal is melted in a furnace.
  • The molten metal poured continuously.
  • Water cooling is provided.
  • The rollers are provided to pull the casting.

Advantages

  • Good surface finish
  • Production rate is high
  • Cost of labor is low

Disadvantages

  • Equipment cost is high
  • Operation and Maintenance cost is high

Applications 

Large bars, round square rods are produced in the continuous casting
