Procedure, advantages and disadvantages of investment casting
Investment casting
- Investment casting also
known as lost wax process or precision casting.
- This is suitable for
stainless steel and brass.
- In this method wax pattern
is made first.
- Wax patterns are made by injection.
- The wax is injected into
mould at a pressure of 35 to 7MPa and 500 to 800.
- Then precoating the wax
pattern assembly.
- The coated wax assembly is
inverted in the mould.
- The molten metal is poured
into the mould. The casting are removed from the mould after solidification.
